About Us
Sinai Learning Lab is an innovative Jewish micro-school dedicated to providing Kindergarten through 2nd grade students with a personalized, multi-age educational experience. Rooted in the principles of expressive learning, skill mastery, and challenge-based inquiry, the Learning Lab is dedicated to cultivating curiosity, connection and courage.
Our Values

At Sinai Learning Lab, we believe that curiosity is the heart of education. When children are encouraged to ask questions, follow their interests, and explore the world around them, learning comes alive. Every child learns differently, and that difference is a strength, not an obstacle. Inspired by the wisdom of Proverbs 22:6, “Educate a child according to their own path,” we allow each student to pursue their curiosity in ways that resonate with them. Some build and create, while others observe and reflect. Some thrive through collaboration, while others need quiet time to think and process.
By nurturing curiosity and honoring the individuality of each learner, we transform education from a series of requirements into a meaningful, joyful experience. When children feel seen and supported in their unique learning styles, they develop not only knowledge but also confidence, resilience, and a love of discovery that lasts a lifetime.
What makes us different and why it matters:
Curiosity Over Compliance: In many schools, learning is driven by grades and testing. At Sinai Learning Lab, we ignite a love for learning by fostering curiosity. Our students ask questions, solve real-world problems, and explore subjects that interest and excite them. When children are curious, they become lifelong learners.
Learning doesn’t happen in isolation – it thrives through connection and shared experience. At Sinai Learning Lab, we believe that every child is both a learner and a teacher. Inspired by Pirkei Avot 4:1 – “Who is wise? One who learns from everyone,” – we cultivate a community where students are empowered to collaborate and contribute to each other’s growth.
In the lab, students collaborate across age groups, share their knowledge, and mentor one another. They recognize that their insights, experiences, and even questions can spark learning in their peers. By encouraging this exchange, we create a space where every child feels valued, not only for what they know but for what they can teach. This dynamic community, built by its students, strengthens empathy, nurtures leadership, and fosters a deep sense of responsibility to one another.
What makes us different and why it matters:
Connection Over Competition: In traditional settings, students often feel isolated or measured against their peers. We believe every child plays a vital role in our learning community. Students work across age groups, mentor each other, and take ownership of the space they help create. This sense of responsibility and belonging drives connection, empathy, and personal growth.

Real learning happens when students have the courage to embrace challenges and push beyond what feels comfortable. Deuteronomy 6:7 – “Teach them diligently,” – reminds us that meaningful education requires persistence, guiding students to engage deeply, wrestle with difficult questions, and grow from the experience.
In the lab, courage is not about getting things right the first time. It’s about creating, experimenting, and viewing mistakes as part of the process. We encourage students to take risks, knowing that each setback is a stepping stone toward growth. By facing challenges head-on, they build resilience and develop the confidence to tackle the unknown – both in learning and in life.
What makes us different and why it matters:
Courage Over Fear of Failure: Many children are afraid to make mistakes. We teach that failure is part of the process. By encouraging risk-taking and persistence, our students develop the courage to try new things, solve complex problems, and bounce back stronger. Courage fuels creativity and resilience – essential skills for tomorrow’s leaders.
Our Inspiration
Sinai Learning Lab draws from three powerful educational philosophies to shape its innovative approach. From Montessori, we adopt a multi-age model and a focus on skill mastery, creating a collaborative environment where students learn at their own pace and from one another. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we view the learning environment as the third teacher and celebrate the "100 Languages of Children," encouraging expression through art, movement, storytelling, digital media, and more. From Acton Academy, we are motivated to incorporate challenge-based learning, where real-world problems inspire critical thinking, creativity, and purposeful action.
By weaving together these approaches, Sinai Learning Lab creates a dynamic and inclusive environment where elementary-age students are empowered to explore, create, and lead. We prioritize personalized learning, student agency, and holistic development, preparing students not only for academic success but also for a life of curiosity, courage, and connection.
Multi-age Classroom
In a multi-age elementary learning environment, students of varying ages and grade levels learn together in a shared space, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment that emphasizes mastery-based learning. This structure allows for flexible grouping based on individual learning needs and skill levels rather than age, promoting personalized instruction. Education is tailored to each student’s unique learning pace and abilities, ensuring that they progress as they demonstrate mastery of specific competencies. Older students naturally take on mentorship roles, guiding and assisting younger peers, which reinforces their own understanding and builds leadership skills. Younger students benefit from exposure to more advanced concepts and the opportunity to learn from older classmates. This dynamic setup encourages social development, peer learning, and a strong sense of community, ultimately benefiting all students by creating a more adaptable and supportive educational experience. The focus on skill mastery promotes confidence, encourages peer learning, and ensures that all students achieve a deep and enduring understanding of essential skills. Click here to learn more.
